Masjid yusuf
We want to make history in the city of Cuenca, the third largest city in Ecuador, South America. However, there are no mosques or classes in Cuenca. Another key point is that there are more than 150 large Muslim families living in this historical and religious city. Furthermore, most of them are refugees from war-torn Yemen/Syria/Afghanistan and neighboring countries like Venezuela.
In light of the above, you can help bring a Mosque to people who have never known the blessings of praying together in a Mosque in Cuenca.
The city center of Cuenca is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Surprisingly, this is due to its many historic buildings and its historical importance as an agricultural and administrative center.
Equally important is that Cuenca is a place treasured by empires. The Canari, then the Incas and then the Spanish occupied the region in the last two millennia. Each one renames it in their own language. For this reason, Cuenca is now the center of many religions. However, there is no Masjid in this historic city. The nearest mosque is 4 hours away by car
1 place for the prayer rug will cost approximately £250.
A temporary prayer has been built housing 235 men and 40 women.
It has 2 adjoining buildings within the area. Future plans are to house 2,000 people, as well as educational classes. This Masjid will be a focal point for social and welfare events and projects. Currently, we provide food to poor and disadvantaged communities on a weekly basis, regardless of their gender, ethnicity and beliefs.
